What happened to wanting to live a simple life. I asked a question in the gender studies section about?

Isn’t that exactly what being liberated means?

It’s the freedom to do what is right for you, regardless of gender. Personally, I have all the respect in the world for stay at home mothers (and fathers). What they do is not easy, and they should be respected just as every other contributor to society.

A stay-at-home mom/dad is a nurse/therapist/personal assistant/teacher/activities coordinator/chauffeur and everything else that is needed.

There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with being a stay at home mother, if that’s what you really want to be doing. So long as you aren’t being coerced into the position, it’s not ’slapping feminism in the face’ or whatever else people say about it.

The pendulum has swung so far from where it began, it will take time.
Whenever societal changes bring more choices, old choices are looked down upon. People will eventually realize that it’s having the choice that matters, not what someone else does with it.
And I think it’s a tremendous responsibility to raise a worthwhile human being. Teach them tolerance, teach them respect, and teach them to think for themselves. There is no more important job than that in the world.

There’s nothing wrong with it, so don’t worry about them. It sounds juvenile, I know, but they are probably just a little jealous that you can afford that lifestyle and they cannot.

It’s your life and you don’t have to conform to how they believe life should be – if everyone did that only the tiniest percentage would find fullfilment.. My mum has been a SAHM now for 20 years and she sees it as anything but “tragic.”

I would love that… if I could just skip the children part.

there is nothing wrong about it, and if you want to you can get an online part-time job there are a lot of them out there. and, if you think it’s a good idea, do it! some people just have different opinions, and that doesn’t mean that you have to listen.

There’s nothing wrong with it at all. It’s a vocation just like any other, the only difference with is with paid jobs you work 8 hours a day then go home and relax, whereas being a mum is ongoing. I have a lot respect for people who dedicate their lives to raising their kids, I reckon it’s probably the hardest job in the world!
