5 Steps on How to Control Weight Gain After Delivery
Controlling weight gain after delivery is easy if you are already prepared to take on this challenge. Even though you are using a method that is purported to be very effective if you are not really doing everything you can, you cannot see the results you want to see.
This is a step by step guide on how to control weight gain after delivery and how to lose some of the flabs left by baby weight:
Step 1: Breastfeed your baby. If you are not yet ready to start exercising because your body has not yet fully recuperated from the ordeal that is childbirth, you can jumpstart your weight loss scheme by breastfeeding. It actually helps burn up to 500 calories in one day.
Step 2: Once you have already recovered from baby delivery and you are now ready to try dieting and exercising, you can start by incorporating 5 healthy meals in one day. It sounds a lot but the portions have to be smaller. Eat breakfast, lunch and dinner but portion your food into half the usual amount you are eating. Eat one snack in the morning and one snack in the afternoon. This will help keep metabolism working properly. Just make sure everything is healthy. Ditch junk foods for snacks and opt for roasted nuts, yogurt or dried fruits.
Step 3: Exercise 30-60 minutes in a day. Experts say it does not really matter what form of exercise you are using for as long as your body stays active. If you do not have time for a continuous workout scheme, try exercising 30 minutes in the morning by walking around your neighbourhood and leave the rest during the afternoon. Do something you are interested in doing so that you won’t have to drag your two feet doing the “chore”.
Step 4: Get lots of sleep. When you are always bleary-eyed, you will lack the energy to go through the tasks for the day. More often than not, we seek energy drinks or energy bars in order to supplement lacking energy.
If your baby is taking a nap, do take a nap too. You won’t have that much privilege when your baby is awake. Also ask your husband to help you out in attending to your baby’s needs every night.
Step 5: Control weight gain after delivery by controlling hormonal changes. Hormonal imbalance can lead to comfort eating. Make sure you have proper exercise in order to balance hormone production.
