Password Website – The First 7 Steps to Starting Your Membership Website
Password websites are a great way to get a practically passive income online teaching what you already know and love. It doesn’t get better than that, but getting started can be challenging. Often people who have the skills and drive to be successful never get off the ground because they just don’t have a clear path for getting started.
One of the biggest mistakes is assuming that the first thing you should do is set up your password site. Now, let me clarify if you already have a list of prospects and clients and you want to create a profitable password website then the next step would be to survey your list and start building your password website. But for the remainder of this article I am just going to assume that you are starting from scratch.
Here are some steps that will help you get your password website started and put profits in your pocket in no time.
1. Determine your niche.
Believe it or not, some people are so anxious to set up their site that they buy domain names and start downloading software for their password website before they are even certain about their niche. Not a good idea. Although this part can be difficult because although you have to put a little thought into it you can’t see a physical result for your effort yet. Hang in there it won’t be long.
2. Get your .com and hosting set up.
There are lots of places to do this and if you already have a favorite company to work with no problem. Personally I get my sites from Name Cheap, because they are cheap, and host at Host Gator because they are inexpensive and reliable. If you want feel free to look them up on the web.
3. Get an auto responder.
You will want to find a company to collect and manage your prospects e-mail addresses as well as send out scheduled pre-written e-mails.
4. Set up squeeze page.
You will need a place to send people where you can collect their contact information and they can get their free gift.
5. Create free valuable gift.
You need to create something that will 1. Get your prospects attention. 2. Motivate them to want to give you their contact information and receive further correspondence from you. 3. Create respects, and expert status so if they want additional help they will naturally turn to you.
6. Promote your free gift to build a seed list.
Now that you have a great gift and a place for people to get it you need to find them and tell them about it. Article marketing is my personal favorite way to do this. You can also use paid advertising like pay per click, and trade magazines, or utilize other free forms of marketing like blogs, and social media.
7. Survey list
Talk to your new list of prospects so that you can send them regular e-mails that are valuable to them and eventually create a product and password website that is exactly what they are looking for.
