Article Marketing Tips: Writing Article Conclusions That Make Readers Want More

By Ezday On November 8, 2010 No Comments

What is the correct and most effective way to end an article? When you finish saying everything you want to say, do you abruptly stop writing? When you are writing a list article, do you simply let the article end after your final list item?

It is so tempting to skimp on the end of an article. After you’ve written your title and intro and so carefully presented your argument in the article body, it can be a bit perplexing to figure out how to bring an article to a strong close.

It is crucial that you make the most of every part of your article, including the conclusion.

What Is The Purpose Of The Conclusion?

Right Vs Wrong Or An Alternate View

By Ezday On November 7, 2010 No Comments

A very valuable lesson

At one time early in my business career I was fortunate enough to work for a boss who had a wonderfully soft and generous style of management. Over the years I learned a lot from him but one particular lesson has trumped all the others in terms of frequency of memory recall. It came about as follows.

At some point during a regularly scheduled one-on-one exchange we were discussing the marketing strategy for a new product that we were about to introduce. My boss had years more experience at marketing than I did but was a bit of a traditionalist. He expounded on his ideas for a good five minutes and I found myself becoming increasingly concerned at what I considered to be quite old-fashioned notions.

Finally, unable to bear it any longer, I interrupted his argument and brashly challenged him with “Dick, do you want me to tell you where you are wrong?”

In my mind’s eye to this day I can still see his reaction. He stopped, slowly leaned back in his chair, raised his hand and stroked his chin, gently looked me in the eye and said “Not really Warren, but I will listen to an alternate opinion”.

Frankly I don’t remember the outcome of our exchange. I just remember the lesson in management. I was very lucky that Dick was a boss who didn’t react aggressively to my outburst and who was tolerant of someone so precocious.

The lesson has stuck with me all my life. That is, that in many instances it may not be so much a matter or issue of right versus wrong but rather that another person simply sees things in a different way. If you think about it for a bit that really is a major change in perspective. Views don’t have to compete so much as represent different interpretations.

I’ve benefitted enormously over the years from that single simple piece of learning and I’ve silently thanked my early boss more than once for his counsel. In his mentoring way he taught me to be more open to other’s inputs, not to judge too quickly, to listen better, and finally to have respect for a different point of view.

Not only have I tried to emulate Dick’s gentle management style since that occasion long ago, I’ve also come to learn I really don’t have all the answers, and that often other people have better ones than mine. Their opinion isn’t necessarily ‘wrong’ at all, just an alternative I should make sure I listen to.

Info on Medical Illustration

By Ezday On November 6, 2010 No Comments

Medical illustration is just one of the several classifications of illustrations that are designed to provide superior accuracy and clarity to any piece of medical writing. Performed and excelled by professional medical illustrators, this distinctive applied art is used as a technique that offers better communication of any medical teachings that appear in the form of textual material. Medical drawings accompany any piece of biological or medical information in the form of visual representation that focus directly on the subject rather than having its own means of existence. They are therefore used to support the learners by providing them with the clear picture of the subject or the textual information that comes in a medical book or magazine. When complemented with medical illustrations, you will have better understanding of the topic.

Unlike the art of imaginative drawings and paintings, medical illustration is a field that requires strict accuracy and quality as you are aiming to provide the true picture to the learners about the most complex biological forms of life. From simple drawings of human genome or anatomy of human body to the most complicated surgical techniques, you cannot be careless or inaccurate in your work. But, however, with the help of so many tools and modern techniques for expanding and enhancing your illustrations, you can provide better quality and accuracy to the illustrations as compared to the traditional ways of hand drawing. There are so many places where medical illustrations are used in addition to journals and textbooks including the web, advertising, for patient education, trade shows, interactive learning, continuing medical education, museums, television, dental, veterinary as well as legal fields. Along with medical professors and authors, these illustrations are also utilized by the attorneys to provide clear medical information to the jury.

If you are interested in learning the techniques, then there is good career platform that is waiting for you. You can work to complete medical illustration projects for a company or work as a freelancer as this is a profession that is being highly boosted by the medical industry today. You can devote your time to medical legal illustration if you wish to.

A Healthy Vegetarian Diet For Weight Loss

By Ezday On November 5, 2010 No Comments

Since it rained for most of the weekend, my time was spent reading a book I just picked up called, Thrive: The Vegan Nutrition Guide To Optimal Performance In Sports and Life by Brendan Brazier (creator of the Thrive Diet).

Now even if you have no interest in veganism or vegetarianism this book and its core principles can still speak to you.

Brazer, a professional triathlete, promotes a healthy vegetarian diet – essentially, a plant based lifestyle. Eating this way has helped him increase his performance over the years and stay lean in the off season.

Personally, I am not a vegan, nor am I a vegetarian. But I do believe that animal based products should be consumed in moderation – meaning that we should be focusing on a plant based menu.

In fact, best selling Author, Michael Pollen agrees. In his book, Food Rules, Pollen outlines 60 food rules you should be living by for optimal health and reduced disease risk. These rules can be summerized by 7 simple words:

Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants.

Sounds like a healthy vegetarian diet to me.

But why? Because numerous research studies have clearly shown a strong correlation between animal products consumption (meat, dairy, eggs) and diseases such as heart disease, cancer, and diabetes.

That’s not to say you have to give up your favorite indulgences such as steak or ice cream. Just stop making them the foundation of your diet and start viewing them as treats that you allow yourself occasionally.

A healthy vegetarian diet, therefore, is a long term eating plan that can help you:

  • Lower body fat and increase muscle tone
  • Diminish visible signs of aging
  • Sleep better and more restfully
  • Experience better moods
  • Increase energy and mental clarity
  • Build a stronger immune system
  • Lower cholesterol
  • Eliminate cravings

Who wouldn’t want to experience all of these?

The best part about The Thrive Diet is that is also comes with a 12 week whole foods meal plan with over 100 wheat-, gluten-, and soy-free recipes. Brazier also includes some outstanding recipes for pre and post workout nutrition, gels, sports drinks, smoothies, and energy bars, as well as burgers, salad dressings, pancakes, and veggie dishes.

Here is a recipe for a homemade energy bar that I made yesterday and thought were outstanding:

Chocolate Blueberry Energy Bars

  • 1 cup chopped dates
  • 1/4 cup chopped almonds
  • 1/4 cup blueberries
  • 1/4 cup cacao powder
  • 1/4 cup ground flaxseed
  • 1/4 cup hemp protein
  • 1/4 cup sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp lemon zest
  • Sea salt to taste

Combine all ingredients in food processor and mix until blended. Lay out on a clean, flat surface and roll out into a thin square. Cut into bars, wrap individually ans store in freezer or refrigerator.

I got 10 bars using this method although the recipe says 12. If I made them into 12 they would have been more like energy bites not bars!

Anyway, I was so into this book I finished it in less than 24 hours. I am so excited to give a healthy vegetarian diet a shot. I know that it will not only make us all much more healthy but will also help us to lose unwanted weight.

Functional Bathrooms Is Small Apartments

By Ezday On November 4, 2010 No Comments

Before you settle down at your own home it is good to have a few years of roaming through the world, small as it may be. They will help you become a better organized person when the time comes. You may start by leaving the parental home where no harm could touch you and go to the college. There you might need to live in lodging alone or with one or more other students.

That is the exact moment when your life begins. Without even intending you start noticing what makes you feel comfortable, what you can improve in your hostel room. For example I have once lived in an apartment where the bathroom was so small that I felt like a teabag while having a bath. That is when I have decided that a simple shower saves you time and water, but that was also a good opportunity to learn how to maximize space.

A small apartment doesn’t have to be a crowded place. It can be nice and functional if you are able to find and use good ideas for the furniture and not only. For example if you need a double bed in the bedroom you can buy instead an extensible couch. This way you will sleep comfortably and during the day you can move freely around the room after putting the couch back together.

Another way to maximize space in a small room is to have many shelves. They will help you keep all your things orderly and you will still have enough room to walk through the apartment. The same goes for the kitchen or the bathroom. Under the bathroom basin you can place a small cabinet where you can keep all the cleaning products you need. In a corner around the bathtub you can have a few shelves for the shampoo, shower gel, soap and other accessories.

To increase the impression of space you need to use light colors in the bathroom. When you use a dark color it will look like a small box giving you claustrophobic sensations. The walnut travertine is a good option for a small bathroom. It is colored in warm light brown which helps you relax and forget that the space is rather limited.

Unusual Date Ideas

By Ezday On November 3, 2010 No Comments

Have you been doing the same dating routine for ages? Are you bored of doing the same things again and again? Maybe now is the time to stop being so traditional and try the thrill of a different kind of dating plans. Better take these down, be ready and try these unusual date ideas that will surely make your relationship jumping back into a full swing.

1. Do you both love to travel? Well go get the cheapest, soonest flight and enjoy the weekend anywhere without thinking of anything else. Don’t pack anything and just go with the flow. Take pictures of what happened as an evidence of a weekend you will surely remember. Que sera sera!

2. How brave can you go, with a…microphone? Enjoy a night at Karaoke night and register yourself as contestants. Sing your favorite love song and dedicate it to your girl. She will surely feel special. You don’t have to sing well you just have to wear a brave face and sing with all your might. Who knows? You might be the next big thing.

3. Have a scavenger hunt. To make this even more fun, hunt personal and kinky stuff around the house. Give the clues through your cell phones; make the search climatic and end it in the bed room for a steamy body searches that both of you will surely enjoy.

4. Dance, dance, dance. Do you both love to dance? One of my unusual date ideas is to dance since I don’t know how. But if you know how you can make the night fun by going in to a dance club, by all means, do dance the night away. But to make it a bit challenging by going to a dance club that do ballroom dancing or any dance you two are not familiar with. Dance the night away doing tango or salsa. The body contact will surely make the night sizzle.

5. Sunset watch. Nothing would be more romantic than the sunset at the beach. So, pack your tent and have a night trip to the beach. Take your girl with you without telling her where you two are going. Don’t forget to buy her a sexy bikini as a present. Be sure that you will arrive there on time for the sunset. Prepare some delicious breakfast for a romantic picnic on the beach. If you are more on a dare devil side, go skinny dipping and make the early morning as hot as noon.

6. Walk around the city. Sometimes it needs the right time to find things out about your girl. Why not go walk around with her all night in the city and ask her all the questions that you had been thinking about? You will know tons of things about her! You can sit at the park up until dark sets. Then, you can end your date by eating some midnight snacks at a diner.

7. Be a hero. Why not do good things while having fun? Suit up in your Superman costume and make her wear a Super Girl number and help people around you. You don’t need to lift trucks and save a kid from a burning building. You and your girl can go to an orphanage and give some story telling time to those needy kids. A day with the kids will make you appreciate life more.

Dating is a way to get to know each other better while having fun. You can do simple date ideas or if you are more adventurous, you can also do unusual date ideas. Whatever it is, you should make sure that both of you are having tons of fun. Just don’t forget your camera to make everything memorable.

Understanding Your Acne

By Ezday On November 1, 2010 No Comments

Common acne affects almost everyone in the population at one time or another. Millions of teens struggle with its effects for many frustrating years. The most recent research suggests that diet does have an effect in ways that you probably have not realized. Teens are more commonly affected but some adults continue to struggle with acne into their twenties or experience periodic flares later in life especially around pregnancies and menopause. Attention to a few of these details can ease your frustration and improve your complexion.

Research in the last five years has shed more light on key dietary factors. There has been discussion about diet playing a role in complexion and acne for many years. There are many misconceptions about it. A connection between consumption of cow’s milk and acne has been clearly demonstrated in several studies. Some of the most severe acne was linked to higher consumption of skim milk in both genders. So there appears to be no relationship to the fat content. Further discovery of a hormonal connection whereby increased milk consumption (greater than 2-3 servings of dairy products per day) stimulates insulin which in turn provokes more androgenic hormones (testosterone) in both males and females. The increase of testosterone is the well known stimulus to greater oil production and formation of pimples of all kinds. Other foods which have a high-glycemic index have also been shown to stimulate more severe acne through a similar hormonal pathway.

High-glycemic foods are usually simple carbohydrates that readily break down to sugar in the blood stream. Examples of this type of food are corn flakes, corn, high fructose corn syrup, white bread, white rice, candies, many cereals that are corn and wheat-based, baked potato, watermelon, ice cream and Gatorade. The common denominator which may be difficult to see is that these are metabolized rapidly to glucose which stimulates insulin production. The latter stimulates more hormones that aggravate acne formation. Stress also has a strong association with acne by directly stimulating oil production and formation of pimples. High salt diet, high fat content and one of the long time suspects, chocolate, all have no demonstrable effect on complexion. The patterns of stress and dietary factors have been observed in different groups and genders in numerous countries around the world. As people in other cultures have moved to the U.S. or adopted a more Western diet with more high-glycemic foods and increased cow’s milk consumption, greater problems with acne have followed the lifestyle changes.

The basic problem of acne is the overproduction of normal oil known as sebum. The over active sebaceous glands become clogged forming the comedones. Common surface bacteria take advantage of these warm pockets and cause inflammation and pustules. Numerous over the counter treatments are available. While most can be very helpful some are less effective. Benzoyl peroxide and Retinol are still the first line treatments that can provide a lot of improvement. Topical creams and lotions with these ingredients are readily available. They have an antibacterial and keratolytic effect to break up the dynamic of comedone formation and infection control. Initial redness, peeling and dry skin are common when the products are first applied. In most people this subsides, except in those with sensitive skin who may have to discontinue use. Unlike antibiotics these topical applications do not cause bacterial resistance.

Oral or topical prescription antibiotics are reserved for more severe cases and should not be used as a first line treatment. If necessary they no doubt are helpful when needed. Nicotinamide, a form of vitamin B-3, salicylic acid (aspirin) and alpha hydroxy acid have some anti-inflammatory and keratolytic effects when applied topically, but less consistently than the first line drugs. There is scant amount of research justifying the use of other herbs such as Aloe Vera, papaya, or turmeric for acne. Tea tree oil is a considered to have a weak antibacterial effect. Used as a diluted 5% solution it has had some beneficial effects without the irritating side effects of dry skin and redness. In severe intractable cases other prescription medical treatments are available. Drugs such as Accutane can be very effective but are reserved for the most severe cases because of expense and potential serious side effects. Certain birth control pills can rectify the hormonal imbalance that aggravates acne in other individuals.

With a little understanding of the underlying process that leads to acne formation, diet modification, and access to effective over the counter preparations, many people can manage their complexion quite well. It does take some time and effort but is an investment that will pay healthy dividends to your appearance and self-esteem. Consult your health care provider to put together a plan of action that best suits your needs.

Good Health Begins With Good Food

By Ezday On October 28, 2010 No Comments

Making smart food choices is one of the best ways you can take care of yourself. Your food choices play a vital role in how you look and feel. They also play a big part in how you react to and thrive in the world around you. Healthy eating can give you energy for a busy day, help maintain your figure, and even help to level out mood swings throughout your day.

Smart food choices on a daily basis will help you look and feel your best. If you are exercising and making the wrong food choices your body will still not give you the energy you are looking for. Even the act of exercising starts with good nutrition. Muscles cannot function properly without being fed properly; so the basics of women’s health must start with good nutrition.

The basics of good nutrition include a well-rounded diet using whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, healthy fats, and lean protein. These are the foods that pack the most energy for women and help control weight. Having a well-rounded diet and using the four tips below can give any woman in any stage of her life the energy she needs to live life to the fullest.

The first tip is eat on a schedule. This will help you to control your cravings and boost energy. Your food choices play a major role in your stress levels, food cravings, and energy throughout the day. Smart nutrition and healthy eating habits make it easier to control stress levels, control cravings, and feel energized from sun up to sun down.

Here are some simple ways to control cravings and boost your energy. First, don’t skip breakfast. Give your metabolism a jump start by eating a healthy breakfast. People who eat breakfast also tend to be slimmer because they have a higher metabolism and are able to control their cravings during a stressful day. Second, eat regular meals. If you go too long between meals you can get irritable and tired. This leads to you having less control over your cravings and a major dip in energy. Third, forget about the junk food and focus on complex carbohydrates as a source of energy. Baked potatoes, whole wheat, brown rice, and such will give you the energy boost you need without the inevitable low of junk food.

The second tip is to eat the right kind of carbohydrates. Just because you are dieting or eating to control your weight doesn’t mean it’s healthy to cut out all carbohydrates. Good carbohydrates, those that have not been stripped of their fiber and nutrients, will give you the fuel your body needs to fight fatigue and stay full. These include whole grain breads, brown rice, whole wheat, beans and legumes, fruit, and vegetables. Bad carbohydrates that you should limit include white flour, white rice, and sugary foods. Eating the right carbohydrates will leave you satisfied, are packed with nutrients, and provide hours of energy.

The third tip is don’t lose the fat! Fats are a necessary part of a healthy diet. It’s the types of fat you eat that is the key. Healthy fats, among other things, boost brain power and mood, promote healthy pregnancies, contribute to healthy skin and hair, and help absorb certain vitamins. Rather than cut out all fats, just be smart about the ones you should eat. Some healthy fats are olive and canola oil, nuts, avocados, fish and seafood, and peanut butter. Cutting these out of your diet completely could lead to unhealthy nails and dull, flat hair, unhealthy nervous system and stress levels, and spikes in blood sugar. A little good fat goes a long way. So make sure you work a little of these good fats into a well-rounded diet.

Women’s health gets more important the older you get, but you can certainly gain from starting healthy eating habits at any age. After all, with sensible food choices, who knew we could eat our way healthy!

Don’t Worry, Be Happy, Right?

By Ezday On October 28, 2010 No Comments

Can money buy happiness? Research has long said no. In fact, new research out of Germany actually indicates that happiness levels aren’t set in stone, that we as people have much more control over our happiness levels than previously thought. The old Bobby McFerrin song, “Don’t Worry Be Happy” may have some truth to it after all.

What does this mean for us? It’s simple; the way we think, the way we choose to live, matters. If you’re not happy with something, you and you alone can change it. Living a well-rounded life, is key. Spending time with friends and family, finding a job or career that you actually enjoy-a little at least, finding time to engage in activities, to have fun…that is the recipe for happiness. Whether you can afford luxurious travel or just a weekend hike in a local park: doesn’t matter. The idea is that you’re actively doing something; actively spending time with loved ones.

Many reading this right now are internally arguing with the money not buying happiness bit, aren’t you? Yes, money can make things a little easier, a little less stressful. With a high paying job you may be able to afford a different level of “activities”. With a higher paying job, you MAY have a more interesting or exciting job. That’s not necessarily the case and I’m sure there are millions of people with money who can tell you just that.

What you choose to do with your time, how you choose to look at things, your perception of how much control you have over your life and your happiness are the key elements to your level of happiness, to raising your level of happiness.

That being said, the holidays are rapidly approaching. I challenge you to: volunteer your time somewhere, helping those in need-in TRUE need. Get outside, at least once a week. Take a walk, read a book in a park, go exploring in nature, noticing the leaves turning colors and that crisp air you likely feel at this time of the year. Spend time with family, with friends, with whomever makes you happy. Do something that makes you happy: get your Christmas shopping started

Most of Your Online Money Will Come From a Having Large Qualified Mailing List

By Ezday On October 26, 2010 No Comments

So often we hear this one piece of advice from people who have been, or continue to be, successful at internet marketing. They repeat this one sentence over and over again, like a money-making mantra. It’s easy to discount it because we hear it so often, but the fact of the matter is people say it so often because it just plain works, yet most people don’t follow it. So what is this piece of advice that is so common but so often ignored? It’s simple- “the money is in the list.” It isn’t some sort of Zen Koan, it isn’t a riddle or meant to be confusing. Its meaning is actually really simple. You are going to make most of your money online from having a large, qualified and targeted mailing list.

Most people go about making money online in the completely wrong way. They assume that if they just get the right sales language, if they just get the right web design, if they just get everything right in their website and advertisements they will convert a high percent of the people who come to their site the first time that they arrive their. Most people aim to make a sale right away, and have no thought about building some sort of long term relationship with their clients as a method for generating sales. This is probably a big reason why most people fail at internet marketing.

What if, instead of having to convert someone immediately, you were able to keep a large percent of the people who visit your website on the hook? What if you were able to keep in touch with them, and not lose them as soon as they browse away from your site? What if you aimed to build up a list of life-long customers, who you could sell effectively to many times over the years, with a higher rate of success each time? Sounds pretty good, doesn’t it?

And that’s why building your list is so important, and that’s why “the money is in the list.” If you focus on creating a mailing list and on providing your list with a steady stream of valuable content you are going to build some loyal clients. You are going to build a lot of trust and respect and positive feelings in between you and your clients. Not only is this more personally fun and rewarding then treating your clients like cattle, but it is also a lot more powerful from a selling perspective.

After all, people tend to buy things for two reasons- because the product solves something, and because they like the person selling it. If you build a targeted list revolving around a common niche, and if you offer that list legitimately valuable products, then you have solved the first problem. Regularly interacting with your list in a positive manner will solve the second problem. A well built and run list solves the two major problems of selling, and if you take the time to work on this aspect of internet marketing you will see much, much greater success.
